Many hands make work light

Every year the city of Leuven organises a big action to clear the streets from litter. The city asks volunteer organisations to help, so as many people as possible are cleaning during the action days. Serve the City Leuven was there once more and on the 24th and 25th of March we made a collective effort to pick up litter from the streets. You would be surprised to hear what we found, next to the usual suspects such as plastic bottles and candy wrappers.  We found many curious items such as old rusty handcuffs, bikes and trolleys, rat poison, cutlery and China mugs.

A lot of people made comments and expressed their appreciation of what we were doing. Also the enthusiasm from the volunteers was amazing, and as always we are glad that we had yet another opportunity to give willing people the chance to volunteer, meet new friends and make a difference. It can be as simple as picking up litter!
